DMV Disasters
After three months of living in Connecticut, the DMV has finally given me new liscense plates. Our previous experience getting driver’s licenses was awful, we spent over 8 hours in line merely to get our eyes tested before they would let us take our picture. Yes, it was hot and neither of us were in the best picture taking mood. Since that day, I have been trying to get CT plates on our car. I have been sent away from the office at least six times.
First they didn’t believe me that the three pieces of paper I had saying the car had no lien, then they didn’t take the bank statement saying the lien was actually cleared because it wasn’t on a letterhead from the bank. Then the bank copied the wrong VIN number on the letterhead lien release. In another attempt I accidentially made a scribble mark on the title so that became void and I had to sign a bill of sale to me from the Nicole Iverson me. Anyway, today they didn’t even bother to look closely at all the papers I finally got in order. The woman just assumed I had everything and asked for her money. Cash only.
It was a big day. I have had Montana plates on my car since I was 14 (they start ‘em young in MT). The plates are of a similar color palat, but I feel a loss. My car now has a Montana decal, a Minnesota Public Radio sticker, and Constitution State plates. I think we have officially moved in.
