Growing up in Montana
has taught me that a 45 minute commute to work is a short drive. It was no big deal to drive 45 minutes to go to Taco Bell, a movie, or the mall when I was in high school. Now I drive 45 minutes to work - it isn’t quite as fun as the previously mentioned acitivites, but it does bring in the bacon.

People were so excited to see me on Friday. I was told that anybody certified was better than the gym teacher who was filling the postion until I arrived. I was ushered into “my” office while the other counselors are telling me that the absent counselor is a little unorganized and how great it will be if I could work on completing some of the undone things around the office. The desk was covered in papers and over a hundred students had been waiting to see their counselor (which is now me). I busied myself throwing papers away from three years ago and making lots of appointments to see kids on Monday. I have decided that I will always file papers immediately from now on. The computer system they use is extremely outdated for a large school and I will be learning the system as kids come in. As of now, I will be working on fixing schedules and making sure the seniors are taking all the right classes so they can graduate. It is hard to know if I will be able to build any relationships or run groups since I could be done with my job at any time. Though most people I talked with on Friday seemed to think I would be staying a while.
