Partial List of Things I Have Done to Avoid Writing My Dissertation.

  1. Read the legal copy on the Survivor application form.
  2. Get a nasty flu.
  3. Generate a comics addiction.
  4. Twitter.
  5. Golf at a crappy par-3 course.
  6. Wander through Wal-Mart.
  7. Wander through Blockbuster.
  8. Trade in old CDs and DVDs for new CDs and DVDs.
  9. Plan a trip to Europe.
  10. Listen to podcasts while playing Madden 09 on the Wii.
  11. Check Google Reader about 600 times per day.
  12. Pay bills online.
  13. Play WordTwist and Scramble on Facebook.
  14. Sketch out a novel about mutant teenagers.

    I think your readership would be very interested in hearing more about number 9). Could you tell us a bit more about this proposed trip?

    Number 15: made a list of the things you’re doing to avoid writing your dissertation.

    Regarding #9: Headed to Switzerland, Italy, and France for a vacation/visit this summer.

    Regarding #3: I wrote a little about my interest here: http://www.inessentials.com/blog/archive/2008/05/21/14_43_10 but I’ve recently been expanding my comics interest, partly through recommendations of Unkie Dave. I’m just getting caught up on Fables, which is fabulous. Y: The Last Man was outstanding. Scott Pilgrim is very, very funny. Local and Pride of Baghdad were beautiful to look at. Overall, I’m getting better at reading comics and graphic novels, but no expertise.
